He Just Built His Own Mini Pond

Exploring with stones, dirt and grass...plus the spare paint, he was able to build his mini garden well.

One of my fears for raising a kid in the digital era is seeing this li'l boy in front of electronics for several hours and little by little adapting with what is common now among kids... swapping active outdoor play for a more sedentary lifestyle.
Undeniably there's a decline in active kids...and I have this sort of thought... "back in our time then..."
Sighs!
Parents hope we can fully trust what's going on outside wouldn't harm our kids... the pandemic has added negative impact on our kids' well-being... of course parents understand the importance of encouraging kids to spend more time doing physical activities and active play, and away from technology. Outdoor play's benefits for kids' development are extensive...and parents can only hope we all find our kids having ample opportunities to play outside...
This afternoon while doing paper tasks, I loved watching JD build his mini garden well and he was like..."I'm an engineer and this is my new project".
The "why" behind the well is...he wanted to keep one that sustains Nyny's garden with rain water...if only he can build a bigger one...he would.
Simple...
yet profound!
I'm happy how he explores our small space from a different perspective.
He was proud to tell me he's able to keep some clean water in the well.

Parenting is a Gifted Role

When you see your child growing, as a parent, you leverage your parenting in such a way that there will be more changed beliefs and attitudes on your part... and sometimes even when you feel hesitant to give up scolding, you still feel like doing so... then, after a minute... you find yourself charged with extra batteries of patience and begin to learn positive reinforcement, instead... you talk slower, gentler, kinder...and you see how your happy mood eventually changed your child's annoying behavior. Parenting has changed overtime...and I felt that... It's been changing me too since I realized there's a li'l boy needing a mom-friend, a mom-teacher in one. Every parent's guide to great parenting is no more than his/her own built-in abilities challenged to be re-built both in happy and annoying ways... We own our parenting and have different stories that test us through and through... no perfect ones... but I suppose all parents strive to becoming one...while we a

Unfolding Realities of Parenting

No parent is always conscious and gentle, positive and peaceful...at all times. ...and I understand it takes practice to be conscious and gentle, positive and peaceful at all times. Under all the conditioning, whether trauma or shame, social standard or other people's expectations, You are the parent you aspire to be. Never doubt yourself. Only accept the role and be grateful for being chosen to be part of your child's inward-out molding. No matter what the world says, claim your sovereignty as a parent. You are not alone in this journey. Don't get drained. Gods grace holds you. Whether you parent with a spouse or alone, God's grace holds you. #sidedishesofaparenting #positiveparenting #intentionalparenting

How do word puzzles impact your child's brain health?

People who enjoy solving word puzzles often claim that they're good for one's brain.  Well, based on research, word puzzles, are not only fun to do but also good for our brains...because they help maintain the brain's cognitive function.  Word puzzles serve as a form of exercise for our brains.  Health research shares that word puzzles help improve one's short-term memory, as they reinforce connections between brain cells. Also, because word puzzles are fun to solve and answer, they enhance our mood. It happens when we experience success for solving challenging parts of the word puzzle activity. On that note, it is important to engage in word puzzles, as often as possible. So, the more often, the better. One thing to note is that the word puzzles should be challenging such as they also keep increasing the level of difficulty.  And thus, word puzzles are among the homeschool activities we include for JD. He can spend hours doing word puzzles and he truly enjoys it.  #hom
